Five Tips for Organizations in the 2020 Holiday Season

As we approach the holidays and the end of 2020, we are still adjusting to a new normal with a lingering pandemic. Businesses, as well as nonprofits and educational institutions, are faced with the need to pivot and re-pivot, time and time again. Messaging, explaining, communicating is messy at best. Are you prepared?

You are continually challenged to explain who you are, how you are operating and where you continue to shine.

We offer five tips to keep in mind:

1) Stay in your lane
While it may be tempting to reinvent yourself on the fly, stay true to your core.

2) Remember who you are
Be consistent with messaging to continue to build equity in your brand. You may be pivoting operationally, but maintain your identity.

3) ‘Tis the season for creativity
The holiday season and a new year provide opportunities to introduce imaginative and inspired edits or new approaches to your channel of offerings, while not fundamentally changing who you are.

4) ‘Tis also the season to communicate
Be prepared with your “elevator speech”. Develop three key messages that reflect timely, seasonal and relevant offerings.

5) Express gratitude
Whether you are interacting with your internal team or external customers, clients or users, and certainly with the media – articulate appreciation. Surely this is the season to be grateful.
