RE: COVID-19 COMMUNICATIONS
By now, you’ve likely been asked what your company or organization is doing regarding COVID-19. If not, you will be. And you will likely be asked again, and again, as the situation continues to unfold. What we’re all dealing with is unpredictable and unprecedented. It can be hard to know how to handle both internal and external communications. To help keep you focused amidst the chaos, here are some key Do’s and Don’ts.
| 🙂 | DO: |
Stay in your wheelhouse. Talk about how you do what you do, and how you do that in a way that demonstrates efforts to ensure safety and the well-being of your customers, clients, staff. |
| 🙂 | DO: |
Refer your staff to abide by best practices as established by governmental and health authorities, such as the CDC. |
| 🙂 | DO: |
Talk about what this means for your staff, your clients, customers, and how your company or organization is handling it. |
| 🙂 | DO: |
Communicate, communicate, communicate! Even if you don’t know your final answer on something, communicate the process: share what you know, what you don’t know, what you haven’t decided, and the process for determining a final answer. |
| 🙂 | DO: |
Be helpful in some way to the community if your company or organization is able. |
| 🙁 | DO NOT: |
Overreach and position yourself as a public health expert or authority. (Unless, of course you are.) |
| 🙁 | DO NOT: |
Talk about what it means for the world. |
| 🙁 | DO NOT: |
Act personally responsible for solving a global pandemic. |
And one final… DO call us if we can be of help.
